The Community where there is no light at the end of the Tunnel
Published by Tikitiki August 27th, 2006 in OnlineMany of you may know that the Rollercoaster Tycoon Section at the Atari Community has taken a downfall in the past few months. Spam, Advertising, people who think they’re above the rules, etc… It’s all getting really, horribly annoying, to the point where I don’t even like to visit it anymore. Everywhere I go, people are ridiculing each other, and spamming it up. Even for me, to make a post is just not worth it, because you turn around and you have 10 replies saying why your post isn’t and wasn’t perfect in every possible manner.
Seriously? When did it become a requirement to be perfect at the Atari Community?
Let me ask you this; Has anyone ever taken a step back, and asked why?

I’ve noticed that too. It’s like you can’t even post without getting flamed within the next page or two. I hope this means people will begin moving away from the ‘official’ community and more towards places like, oh, RCTgo!
I don’t remember the last time I visited the Atari Community for fun. I used to enjoy lurking around there. It seems there are always arguments over there each time I visit and in the end I lost all motivation to continue visiting. Admittedly, I don’t get much time to play RCT anymore and my online activities have changed somewhat over the last year or so, but the little time I do get free is now often spent elsewhere.
This is why I stopped visiting Atari Community. Keep in mind that Atari’s forums are a first-party forum. This is where anybody could end up, unlike privately run forums. Things get tense, people start to argue. Either way, it’s definitely not a place to go to if you’re looking for serious discussion.
