Just an update on this. I've been working on some new features for MyBB Mods a lot recently, and the submissions script is one of the areas being updated.

The submission process will be a multi-step process when the new system goes live. GUIDs will be generated in step one and shown to the user in step two, which is where the submission is uploaded. What this obviously means therefore, is that the GUID can be shown to the user before they upload the file, meaning they need only upload it once. :)

[...] Tikitiki, is now joining the 1.4 feature release bandwagon (in an obvious effort to get some visitors - he’s jealous because I released a feature before he did - only mine isn’t very clear NB: Joking) by releasing a feature he has been working on lately.
[...] MyBB 1.4 will offer a centralized way of checking your plugins for an upgrade. Tikitiki talks about this new feature on his blog.
